Remote collars are Great !! And of coarse dogs can be trained to be off leash without it as a matter of fact a dog can be trained to do anything without a remote collar..but no other tool will get you faster results. Now with that said should the average person use a remote? Probably not..should pet stores be able to sell them to anyone? Maybe not. Maybe you should only be able to get them through professional trainers so that the person can be properly trained how to use it.but regardless the remote collar is a great tool.

With proper training a dog can still be off leash with no remote training collar, maybe not in 5 days, but neverler the less can still be taught off leash control.. This is a copout to properly training a dog, it's the "easy" fix. As a trainer, you know how to properly use a remote collar. Most people will misuse them just like choke and prong collars.
