This is a great place because someone always is willing to give advice. I need some help keeping Nala off the couch...not sure how to do this. My wife and I are not sure what to do....We want her to stay off the couch until she is a little older, or we may not let her on the couch...a 70lb lab will take up a lot of room! ha...what do you all think...tips and ideas on how to keep her off.....it would be great. just to tell you this is what i do...she isnt big enough to get on it by her self yet! so she tries but i just have her get off by saying off , should i put a treat with off? help wold be great!

We let our dogs on the bed, but not on the furniture. As a puppy, we are consistent at saying off and removing them from chairs or couches. If I am sitting on the couch, I sometimes, put on the leash and put my foot on it. When he tries to jump up, I tell him no, off. It has worked me for all 7 of them in past.

You can also try only giving attention when all 4 are on the floor. Correct when needed, but if the dog wants attention give it to her when she's doing the correct behavior. And, for the time being, you can get on the floor w/her for the attention. She will learn that being on the floor gets her better results and that it is where you will be fulfilling her wants. If you pet her while you are on the couch she will be inclined to want to be up there too. ps, if it's a 'no' once, it should be a 'no' for life. They don't understand why it's ok today and not tomorrow. Good luck and I hope I've given decent advice. Though I'm still working on my own issues too. My girl starts the board and train on Monday. Wish us luck! Lol!
