After we moved from Tennessee to Ohio and had many visitors (relatives and their dogs, and garage builders), our basset-beagle dog now refuses to be leashed, no matter what we try.  He stays on the back porch most of the time.  We love our dog and want to get him back on the leash.   Do you have any advice?

Will, sorry for the late response. My suggestion would be to hide the leash as you approach him. Once you have him by the collar hook him up and sit there with him and offer him something high value for a reward (small piece of hotdog). Once he settles down take leash off and the hook him up again right away. Repeat this process for a few minutes then your done. Next time you approach him no leash and hold his collar for a brief second then let him go. We dont want him to think every time you approach him your attaching a leash. So mix it up. Hope this helps.
