well i was enjoying a good nap with my girlfriend this afternoon when the dog warden started beating on my door. He said one of my nieghbors a few houses down complained justice was in there yard more than once which i know is not true because he always stays in the yard plus i always supervise him since i dont have a fenced in yard...A few days earlier I witnessed a loose rottie roaming around the same area probably the dog they seen..then the warden accused me of not having a license which i have had for quite some time now..now justice is just 9 months old very well behaved and trained..if someone THINKS my dog is a problem why cant they just talk to me??..I just needed to vent alittle :)

sorry to hear that greg.  venting is often needed.  it does no harm and prevents the huge blowup.  as owners of powerful breeds we are many times held to higher standard.  i am fine with that.  we have chosen these breeds by choice.  my bet would be if justice were a pomeranian, you would have never gotten a knock on your door.

this is where we must be good advocates.  with great power, comes great responsibilty.  (can't remember who said that at the moment.)  this is very true.  with all the bad press, we can't allow any more negative to be brough to the fore front.

our best course of action is to be compliant.  keep our license current, obey leash laws, and have elite control of our dogs.

having an apbt i am forced to really have my ducks in a row.  lets keep our wits and stay one step ahead.

On one of our usual "routes" Smokee" and I pass a home with a couple of black labs in the back.  These labs are fenced in but they can see and sometimes smell Smokee as we approach.  Smoker is always calm but these guys go nuts!  Not just barking but they become viciously aggressive towards each other.

I feel really sad for the dogs, it's kind of obvious by the yard that this is their primary hangout.  Can you surmise what's to account for the behavior.  (Smokee ignors them, by coaching).

Well guess what ?......I was walking Justice when all of a sudden my neighbor pulls up next to me ( yes the neighbor that called the dog warden and police on me) he told me he seen me walking Justice couple days ago and he proceeds to appologize to me cause it wasnt Justice that was in his yard..I told him not to worry about it and he said he called the warden back and told him it was NOT Justice..all could of been avoided if he had just come to my house and talked to me in the first place.

I was walking Justice past the house where the two rotties live that have been causing justice and I all the problems with the dog warden..I have no choice but to walk this way cause i live on a dead end street but anyway the owners of the dogs were out front and the dogs were in the back in a split rail fenced in area..as we were walking, the dogs were snorting and barking as we got in front of the house i heard the lady say one got out then the second one got out both 120 pound rotties jumped the fence to get to us..we keeped walking and i heard the one coming up behind us before i knew it he was on justice sniffing him. the owner of the dogs luckily was right there and grabbed the dog..Now i was very mad but i didnt say anything and the guy appoligized But what is going to happen when they jump the fence and the owners are in the house ?..also these are the same dogs that have gotten me and justice in trouble with the law...what would u do ? ignore it ?

not quite the update we wanted to hear.

just to keep things in perspective.  irresponsible neighbor's dog gets out of the fence and postures on your dog.

thankfully without incident.

lets count our blessings as things could have been much worse.  i can see how an encounter like this is a recipe for elevated blood pressure.

pat yourself on the back as you are being a responsible owner.  your breed of choice was not a yorkie and you want your dog to be more than a lawn ornament.

saddly, other owners don't see this as a problem.  all we can control is what is in our possesion.  you have to live next to each other.  hopefully no bad blood was exchanged.

don't stress over what you can't control.  it is easy to take things personal.

keep up on your training, and continue to be the responsible one.
