been a stressful week.  had a dog in the vet for 2 days on iv and lab work showed liver and kidney were involved.  i have no idea what the dog could have gotten into.  this is not a dog that runs loose and IS under constant supervision.  the yard had not been treated and no chance for antifreeze.  can any of you fellow members think of anything that could have been the cause?  am i overlooking and poisonous plants?  any and all discussion is encouraged.

thankfully he seems to be making a speedy recovery and showing a strong desire to work again.

baffled,

joe

We had the same thing happen with our first GSD, never determined what it was.   We had a dog hating neighbor that could have poisoned, but this time of year its possible that racoons, possums, mice are getting active and if anyone has poison bait blocks out, they can be carried off to take back to their nest and could drop them in your yard.  Wouldn't take much.   One square inch bait block could be bad.  Even tainted racoon or possum poo.  Glad things are getting better.
